Another 180 degree tale for you today

So I just finished watching an episode of Ancients Behaving Badly, the series that studies many of the great figures of history as criminal psychopaths.  In the end, the show attempts to rate each on of the episode subjects on a scale of criminal psychopathy.

I'm a big fan of this show.  This is the show that teaches us that most of the great figures of history are worthy of our scorn, not hero worship.  They are blood-thirsty megalomaniacs, for the most part.

This episode was about Cleopatra.  It was quite fascinating.   Boy was she one for the record books!  What an eye-opener.  This woman quite literally killed all her brothers & sisters to ensure her firm grip on control of the throne of Egypt.

Of course, sex and seduction are the heart of Cleopatra's tale.  She seduces a 52 year old Julius Caesar, when she is a mere 18 year old nymph.   Later, at the age of 28, she seduces his successor, the 42 year old Mark Antony.  All reports indicate that they had a blistering sexual firestorm for the ages.  It was not just political, in their case.  There was a sexual meltdown in progress there also.

Naturally, this made me curious about the synastry of the situation.  As a dedicated investigator, I wanted to see what I could find out about the situation.  The facts of the case are these:

  1. Cleopatra's birth date is not known.  We do not know the month either.  This is despite spurious sources who claim she was born in January.  No ancient sources support this claim.
  2. Julius Caesar 's deification celebration was reportedly set for his birthday, and this festival was routinely celebrated on July 12.  This would make his birthday July 12, 100 B.C., making him a Cancer.  That's a fine Cardinal sign for a Roman Emperor.  There is some uncertainty about his birth, but such is the case for all ancient figures.
  3. Mark Antony's birthday stands pretty well confirmed.  It is set for January 14, 83 B.C., making Mark a Capricorn.
  4. Mark Antony was always a steadfast ally and close friend of Julius Caesar.  This is how he became a member of the Triumvirate after the assassination of Caesar.
  5. What a co-inky-dinky!  Julius and Mark just happen to be 180 degree opposites!  January 14 is 182 days after July 12.  182 is pretty dang close to the magic figure of 182.625.
So, for a dude interested in Synastry and the sex of the situation, we just need to guess what sign is mostly likely to set both a Cancer and a Capricorn on fire.  That's not hard to reckon either.  These 180 degree opposites are quite likely to have similar tastes and preferences.  There are two obvious choices:  Taurus and Scorpio.

Why do I say that?  First, Taurus and Scorpio are both well-aspected towards both Cancer and Capricorn; especially in a sexual sense.

Second, Cleopatra was a notorious nymphomaniac.  She had a sex drive that just wouldn't quit.  There are rumors that she once took on 100 men in a gang-bang, just to see if she could do it.  The legend has it that she succeeded.  You are probably going to need to come equipped with the highest of all sex drives if you intend to do something like that.

All sources agree that, on average, Taurus and Scorpio have the two highest sex drives of the Zodiac.  The majority report says Scorpio has the highest of all sex drives.  The minority report states Taurus has the highest sex-drive.  I side with the majority on this issue.  It's Scorpio.

I am going to have argue that Cleopatra was a Scorpio.  Her tendency to use her sexuality for the political cause rivals that of James Bond.  We all know that he was a Scorpio.  {You know that right?}

Further, this is a pretty evil and violent figure.  Call me foolish, call me irresponsible, call me a myopic Virgo dude, but this doesn't fit the profile of Taurus as I know them.  Taurus, ruled by Venus, is a very soft sign for a female.  They are known for the gentility, patients and aesthetics.  I find it hard to believe a Taurus woman could do the things reported of Cleopatra.  My gut says no.

On the other hand, Scorpio is ruled by Mars and Pluto... this is a poisonous little critter of a different order entirely.  I do not find it difficult to believe a Scorpio woman could do the things done by Cleopatra.  On the contrary, I think it is totally possible for a Scorpio woman to do these things.  Maybe even likely.

Of course, Adolf Hitler was a Taurus, but this is a pretty singular exception.

We can go further.  Scorpio has a tremendous desire for dominance and control.  According to many sources, Scorpio women are attracted to men based on their power levels.  They like to borrow power from the guy they are with and exercise control in his name.  Believe me, I have first hand knowledge of this situation.  I have seen it in action, day after day.

This pattern fits Cleopatra to a 'T'.  Cleopatra specifically goes after Julius Caesar and Mark Antony precisely because she sees them as the most powerful allies she can have.  She sees them as a the assurance of her control over Egypt.  She sees them as increasing her power-base, not diminishing it.

Many feminists studies have been done on Cleopatra's behavior, and they routinely lament the fact that this women did not believe she could stand on her own.  Rather, she felt she had to partner with a powerful man in order to secure and retain power herself.  This is quite accurate, and it was also probably necessary at the time.  However, it also fits the Scorpio woman's profile perfectly.

I find all this extremely interesting, and even more pitiful.  Mark Antony was probably a good Capricorn brother before this evil Scorpio bitch got ahold of him.  What a shame!  You know... I know of a Capricorn brother being destroyed in just this way...  It's in progress.  I can't save him from this fatal monster.  She's gonna wreck him.

Karina Smirnoff loves Tim Tebow

According to the New York Daily News, Karina Smirnoff wants to dance with Tim Tebow.  She says Tebow would be a worthy successor to the NFL's panoply of former contestants on Dancing with the Stars.  This includes such super-luminaries as Emmitt Smith, Jerry Rice, Kurt Warner, Hines Ward, Warren Sapp, Jason Taylor, and Lawrence Taylor.

You can read about it here.

Karina took it a bit further than that. She declared that all she wants for her birthday is to see Tim Tebow dance on Dancing with the Stars.  Incidentally, her birthday is 1/2/1978.  She just turned 34.

I have to warn you my son, Karina has big a thing for you.  You may like her as well.  My computer indicates that the two of you have some pretty hot synastry.  This is despite the fact that she is a Capricorn and you are a Leo.  It won't be that pleasant, but there is some serious heat there.

Based on these numbers, it's pretty clear that she intends to cougar you.  As a Virgo guy, I extend to you my sincerest envy.  I would jump on Karina Smirnoff without one instant of hesitation.  But this is to be expected.  I am a Virgo guy, and she is a Capricorn lady.  That's a natural.  Furthermore, she's a perfect trine (120 degrees) away from me.  That's the best of all angles.

Capricorn and Leo?  Not the most normal match up.  It's a 150 degree angle known as the inconjunct.  This means you two have nothing in common.    Still, you two have some lovely scores.  Much better than those of Katie Perry.

Well son, you may be unfamiliar with this breed of woman, so let me give you the scouting report.  Don't under-estimate the power, aggression and strategic cunning of the Capricorn woman.  Capricorn is a femme earth sign, but it is the greatest of the cardinal leadership signs.  These are super-disciplined, driven competitors, who work relentlessly to get what they want.  They are accustomed to winning.

You need to think about a female version of Don Shula, Chuck Noll, Sean Payton, Jim and John Harbaugh. All those guys are Capricorn coaches.  If she coaches you, she will use this style and approach.

Believe me, I would accept coaching from a woman like this, but I am a natural-born sucker for a Capricorn woman.

Still, it would be best for you to let your ribs heal up and spend every waking moment doing quarterback drills with John Elway.  It would be ill-advised to allow this delicious, delectable, scrumptious, delightful temptress to divert your attentions from your primary mission this off season.

Welcome back to Capricorn time

So, last night was the Winter Solstice; the longest night of the year (in the Northern hemisphere) and the shortest day.  It is also the official end of Fall and the beginning of winter.  The Sun migrated into Capricorn something like 6 hours ago (according to the Tropical Zodiac, and from a geocentric perspective), so we are now officially back on earth time.  Home again, home again, jiggity-jig.

If you prefer the real skymap, we are entering Sagittarius time.  That would still work fine for me, because the real skymap makes me a Leo.  I am still entering my home element, no matter what.  You see, it's the angle, even more than the sign or the element.  I rejected that theory for a long time, but not now.

'Tis the season why all those Christmas bundles of joy for every Virgo boy are being born.  Virgo and Capricorn are a notorious match-up; perhaps even the most notorious of all synastry match-ups.  Do yourself a favor and google search "Capricorn Virgo Synastry" or "Virgo Capricorn Synastry".  You'll get about 10,000 pages celebrating these two as one of the best matches possible.

My cousin Justin would agree.  He happens to be a Capricorn guy married to a Virgo girl.  I think it has been 12 or 13 years already...

This doesn't naturally imply that all Capricorns are good for all Virgos, or vise-versa.  This would make us all perpetually confused, and we would probably kill each other.  This would subvert the key bedrock-partnership upon which human society is based.  However, you can rest assured that there is more than one ideal Capricorn partner for each Virgo, and vise-versa.

Just make sure no evil scorpions get in the way...

In any case, I thought I would share one of my favorite pieces of Astrological art with you.  This little piece by Kagaya depicts Capricorn and Virgo going out for a little swim in the ocean together.  It's extremely girly in nature, but it is nice to know that there are female romantics out there with some 3d modeling and rendering skills.  This is a lovely piece of work.

In praise of Taurus women, Part 2

So what can I say about Taurus women after a gallery like that one? Not much. A picture is worth a thousand words. It is a strange thing that Taurus, the bull, is a feminine Yin sign. Nevertheless, this is the case.

In ancient Greece, the Cow was the mascot/symbol of the temple of Aphrodite/Venus, the goddess of love. Taurus is ruled by Venus. So is Libra. According to the lore, this imbues Taurus women with a sensuality, beauty, sense of aesthetics, and sex drive that is difficult or impossible to match.

Of course, attraction is a relative thing. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you will pardon me for turning into a brutally honest Virgo critic for just one moment, I'll level with you completely.

Taurus women lack the instant one-punch knockout power of the Capricorn women. I've never been knocked over on my ass instantaneously by a Taurus woman. Many Capricorn women have demolished me to rubble with an instant thunderbolt.

Taurus women also lack the spell-binding, mesmerizing witchcraft of the Pisces women... but that is a good thing. I've never been under a tormenting spell of anguish at the hands of a Taurus woman. Regrettably, I have been under a spell of torment from a Pisces woman. I did not enjoy it. I don't look forward to this happening again in the future.

Just remember Osama Bin Laden was a 3/10/1954 Pisces. Billy Devaney is a 3/7/1955 Pisces. Enough said.

What the Taurus women have is a pure, raw, simple beauty, and a whole bunch of sizzle. That's pretty damn good folks. That ain't a bad thing. There is no doubt they have a ton of allure in them. It usually takes sustained exposure to one over a period of time, by I have become obsessed with more than one Taurus woman in my time. Still, I have never had a Taurus girlfriend (yet). We'll have to see about this in the future.

For a Virgo guy like me, a Taurus woman is theoretically one of your top 3 potential match-ups in life. Those top three would be Capricorn, Taurus and Pisces. The order of those three would be heavily disputed by experts who don't necessarily see eye-to-eye. Nevertheless, all three would be at the top of the list.

Cancer, Scorpio and Virgo would come in as your second tier options. Most experts would expect good levels of compatibility and a solid chance of success with any of these three.

Leo, Libra and Gemini would rank as risky possibilities, pregnant with potential strife and failure. Aries, Sagittarius and Aquarius would normally be sited as the highest-risk candidates, fraught with the highest percentages of problems and failure.

I happen to be an odd Virgo. I happen to be an Air Adept. I also have a lot of fire under the hood. I have an Aries Moon and a pair of Leos on Venus and Mars. These Leos usually form an antagonizing 90 degree square angle with most Taurus people. This usually sends the romance scores down. These two Leos also form hellacious 180 degree oppositions with Aquarius women around the dark and wintery side of the year. This shoots the score way up. My Moon, Venus, and Mars form a bunch of spectacular Trines with Aries, Leo and Sagittarius women.

This is all a very long-winded and technical way to say that normal patterns and generalizations don't necessarily apply to me. Nevertheless, there are plenty of Taurus women with fire under the hood also. I don't have outlandish scores against Taurus women the way I do with Aries, Pisces, Aquarius, and Capricorn women, but my scores are high enough to warrant consideration in some cases.

Who knows... I just may go this route after all.

Farewell to Capricorn, hello Aquarius

Sidereal zodiac controversies not withstanding, 1/19 is the last day of Capricorn. 1/20 will be the first day of Aquarius. I am sad to see you go. However, Aquarius time should be interesting. The specific synastry engines say this is a good season for me. The generalists would say no.

One thing is for sure: It will be a season of change for me. The final word has come through from my health insurance. I am approved for Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery. My surgery date is 2/3. Tomorrow is my last day of eating normally... perhaps forever. There will be a new normal established within 12 months. That will not be like the old normal. Hopefully this will include 100+ pounds of weight loss.

I should go from the build of a short fat nose tackle to that of a short safety. The road is going to be very difficult and painful, I am sure, but the relief of osteo-arthritic pain alone should make the journey worthwhile.

I hope I will have sufficient energy in the weeks ahead to continue blogging at a regular rate. I don't know if this will be possible. I have been sternly warned to expect little or nothing during the first 10 days of my recovery. I have been told that you are extremely fatigued during this time.

It sounds bad folks. We are at risk for blood clots and pneumonia for 30 days after surgery. We must walk a mile per day, or perform an equivalent exercise, beginning immediately after the surgery. The day of the surgery, they are going to walk us around the hospital. Sounds stupid, but it is necessary because of gas bubble formation in the gut. Believe it or not, they are actually going to walk us to make us fart it out. I mean that literally.

If you can imagine the horror of 20 or 30 gastric bypass patients walking around a hospital floor farting after having their innards cut...

I am presuming that by Taurus time--the middle of spring--I aught to be well on my way. It will be 100+ days since my surgery. I should have lost some 60 to 70 pounds by then. The pain in my knees and ankle should subside quite a bit as the result of the lighter load.

In this past year, I have attempted to develop skill in cooking an assortment of casserole-style dishes. These are the preferred types of meals after recovery from surgery. The dishes are nutritionally complete, containing grains, vegetables, proteins, and water. Moisture, tenderness, and small particle sizes are all important. Casseroles fit the bill.

During the liquid diet before and after the surgery, I am going to become an expert in soups and smoothies. That's all I can do in the first 2 weeks and a full month after the surgery. Many have told me to expect 2 to 3 months of a liquid regime. It depends on how fast your guts heal.

One stupid question that worries my mind: Virgo is said to rule the intestines and digestive tract. If you cut the stomach and intestines of a Virgo, what is left of the man? This is one of the stupid questions that bother me late at night.

In praise of Capricorn women

You'll have to pardon me folks, but I am a trifle over-stimulated. You see, it is Capricorn season. All the little Capricorn girls are celebrating their birthdays during this 31 day cycle. The birthday lists are veritable whose-who of the women who have driven me completely bat-shit crazy throughout my entire life.

You don't know what I'm talking about? Have a look. Are these not the most ravishing, gorgeous, stunning, elegant, appetizing, alluring, delightful, delectable, amazing, shattering, breath-taking heart-attack thrillers you have ever seen? Are these not the most excellent examples of womanity in the entire world? These are only a few of them. When you look down the birthday list it's just one femme fatal after another. Bombshell after bombshell. Believe me, there are a whole lot more.

The Capricorn girls are the reason why this is the most wonderful time of the year.

We have three excellent seasons in a row with Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. Still, I think there are going to have to be a lot of serious surprises in store if the Aquarius and Pisces girls are to out-compete this collection. We'll have an interruption with Aries season, but then it is on to Taurus season. We'll see of the Taurus girls can hang and bang with the Capricorns.

If I had to make my list of the Top 10 Capricorn girls I have seen thus far, it would probably have to got like this:
  1. Paz Vega
  2. Gong Li
  3. Joan Severance
  4. Michelle Wild
  5. Ava Gardner
  6. Leonor Varela
  7. Marsha Thomson
  8. Maryam d'Abo
  9. Michelle Forbes
  10. Aaliyah

So I discovered my buddy has been holding out on me, Part 2

So, I had a quick phone conversation with my buddy Colin regarding his Sister-in-Law tonight. Specifically, I was trying to pin down specifics about her birthday. We have to know these things, you know.

Colin says she was born on 12/27/1979 or 12/27/1980. He doesn't remember which. It's not his fault. Women don't like you to know their ages. The location was UCLA Medical. The time is unknown.

I ran both sets of scores, presuming that the information is accurate. The story is pretty simple. If the year was 1978 or 1979, we're on till the break of dawn. If the year was 1980 or 1981, forget about it. Here are the numbers.

Discussion
Naturally, these results have only heightened my interest in the situation. If both sets of numbers had been bad, there would be no point in continuing. However, both sets of numbers are not bad. One set is extremely good. So it is time to put the doctrine to the test.

According to the report, the sister in law is down in the dumps about her recent split with the last candidate for marriage. This is normal. However, Capricorns are purported to be more prone to fits of depression than your average individual. They take everything deadly seriously, even if they pretend they aren't. Like Virgo, they manifest a stony face, but there is turmoil inside.

Let's hope I can give her a new lease on life. I'd be willing to bet you that she's never tried a Virgo before. If she had, she'd be married by now.

So I discovered my buddy has been holding out on me...

I made a surprising discovery last night. It all began when I went over to my buddies house to watch the Rose Bowl. This turned out to be the only good Bowl Game of the day, as TCU prevailed 21-19 and completed a perfect season.

Immediately after the game, we were making idle chit-chat with Colin's wife whilst watching the "America's worst cooks" on the Food Network. I guessed that Chef Anne Burrell was a Cardinal sign because she is a bossy coach, not a mild mannered teacher. I supposed that she was either an Aries or a Capricorn, and probably a Capricorn.

[As it turns out, Anne Burrell has conflicting dates of birth, but she is probably an Aries.]

Immediately, Valerie agreed with me, stating her sister was all three of these things: deep into cooking, a bossy coach, and a Capricorn. For the record, Valerie is the older sister, and a Taurus. Colin is a Cancer. Cancer and Taurus go well together in general, so I am not surprised they have lasted 16 years, and are still going strong.

But I digress...

My eyes just about bugged out of my head when I discovered that:
  1. Valarie had a sister.
  2. This sister was younger, and actually the youngest of her clan.
  3. She's into cooking
  4. She is a Capricorn.
It gets better. Colin later informed me that she is a computer scientist, and recently single again... not that she was ever married. Rather, she realized that the long-term boyfriend would never ask her to marry him, so she ended it. For the record, Valarie is a French-Brazilian girl, and so too is her sister.

I have to say, I'm a little disappointed in my buddy Colin. I can't believe he would hold out on me like that. He knows damn well that I greatly prefer the Capricorn women, and it sounds like he has a perfect candidate. As I said before, when Capricorn and Virgo team up, there is tremendous dynamism. We go together like ice cream and apple pie, like popcorn and butter, like brick and mortar.

Personally, I am not to worried about the bossy shit. That doesn't usually manifest itself between Capricorn and Virgo. There is a cooperative spirit between us... usually. The bossiness is usually for everybody else.

The most popular NFL rebuilding strategy in 2011 is...

I have heard it said that several NFL teams, most specifically the Carolina Panthers and the San Francisco 49ers are going to attempt to acquire Stanford's Jim Harbaugh and Andrew Luck as a package deal. This seems to be the most popular theory today vis-a-vis producing a quick turn around in your team's fortunes.

It seems like the entire NFL establishment is enthralled and mesmerized by the tremendous offensive chemistry of Harbaugh and Luck. They speak of these two as a dynamic duo like Batman and Robin. They all seem to think there is enough horse power in this duo to right just about any founding ship in the league.

If true, this is another feather in the cap of the Capricorn-Virgo synastry camp. Jim Harbaugh is a 12/23/1963 Capricorn. Capricorn is the cardinal leadership sign of the Earth clan. Andrew Luck is a 9/12/1989 Virgo. Virgo is Braniac sign of the Earth clan. Christ I feel old! I am less than 3 years younger than Harbaugh and I was already 23 and stationed in Germany in the U.S. Army on the day Andrew Luck was born!

Readers of my blog will know that Capricorn and Virgo go together like corn flakes and milk, like bread and butter, like peanut butter and jelly, like cream and coffee, like pork and beans, like the Internet and porn. We just can't help it. We were specifically engineered to work together. It just works. Even when the relationship is less than perfect, it still pays big dividends. This is one of the top match-ups on the Synastry board.

There have been other dynamic Capricorn and Virgo Coach-QB combos in NFL history. Chuck Noll is a Capricorn and Terry Bradshaw is a Virgo. Don Shula is a Capricorn and Dan Marino is a Virgo. Marty Schottenheimer and Drew Brees reversed the relationship a bit, as Marty is a Virgo and Drew is a Capricorn.

Once upon a time, I was teamed with a certain Argentinian Capricorn female at work. She was the project manager and I was the software developer. Dems was the best days that ever was... Of course, I could refuse her nothing, and she appreciated that greatly. I thought she was the greatest. She thought I was the greatest. I was inspired every day to go above and beyond, and not because she nagged me. There was a great dynamism there, and everybody noticed. Certain political enemies came to fear that dynamism, and they split us up. Break up the Yankees!

Years later, I'm still pissed off about this. If you want to know what really gets my blood boiling...

My take on Harbaugh-Luck is pretty simple. Interested parties inside the league are pretty well on track. Your hunch looks like it's on the money. Whenever Capricorn and Virgo get together, good things are sure to follow. If a dynamic Virgo Capricorn pair form a partnership, that's best partnership your going to find. You should keep them together. You will be ill-advised to split them up. Splitting them up could mess up both parties.
